User Experience & Service Designer who writes. Based in New York City.
Why is the sky blue?
Why are the cars not crashing into each other at the intersection?
Why do I have to learn algebra if no one actually uses it at the supermarket?*
Asking “why?” has gotten me into trouble, especially growing up in Singapore where the norm is to do as one is told. However, this is what led me to where I am now. I am unsatisfied with following norms without good reason. I want to build products and services that facilitate flourishing, not just survival.
A common thread through all my disciplines is my love for design, people, and cities. I thrive at the intersection of these areas, particularly as they relate to mitigating inequities for marginalized communities.
In my spare time, you’ll find me reading graphic memoirs, sending snail mail to friends and family around the world, and hunting for delicious food in NYC.
(*My dad’s answer to this kept me in school.)
